The Basque Economic Development Minister, Arantxa Tapia , has relied today that "the difficulties" that have arisen between Iberdrola and Siemens as shareholders of Siemens Gamesa can be solved and has considered that the Basque power company can transmit its "way of doing" in Euskadi to the renewable energy company.
In an interview on Radio Euskadi, the counselor referred to the disagreement between the two main shareholders of Siemens Gamesa , born from the division of renewables of Siemens and the Basque generator of wind turbines Gamesa, participated by Iberdrola.
Tapia considered that both shareholders "are almost obliged to understand each other" and considered that this is the will of both parties.
He also pointed out that it is proven that Iberdrola is "a company that works and that pulls a number of companies in a very important way" .
In his opinion, this "way of doing" for years "can also be transmitted to another company that has been Gamesa and is now Siemens Gamesa, where there is a shareholder that is different, that perhaps does not know as much Euskadi and together we can show that trust and that way of doing, which has been the hallmark of Euskadi in recent years. "
The counselor has indicated that this issue will surely be discussed at the meeting that President Urkullu will hold today with the president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galán , which he has framed within the meetings that both parties usually hold periodically. Iberdrola holds its Shareholders' Meeting on Friday in Bilbao
He also recalled that recently the managers of Siemens Gamesa have assured the Basque Government the commitment to maintain the headquarters in Euskadi and "the commitment with respect to local suppliers".
The counselor has pointed out that "this commitment has to be seen every day"since "the trusts are earned by working every day".
On the other hand, Tapia has reiterated the offer of the Basque Government, the Labor Department, to mediate between the management and workers of Tubular Products in the management of the ERE presented to dismiss 157 employees , as well as the "maximum disposition" of its department to work with the company in the search for measures to improve productivity.
In his opinion, it is necessary to adopt measures to that end, although the Basque Government has conveyed to the social and business parties their wish that they be "as least traumatic as possible" and in an agreed manner.
The counselor, who is currently in London looking for commercial relations between Basque and British companies in the energy and rail sectors, has also referred to Basque airports and has once again bet on the strategy "an airport, three terminals "
As he has argued, it is "essential" that Aena opens the Foronda airport 24 hours a day to take advantage of its capabilities.
